ESP Signature series is the Range of Leading Guitarists and Personalities that have a major influence on todays Music Scene .
So you've had the "freshly exhumed-corpse" makeover and the pentagram tattoo, lit the black candles on your amp, and changed your name to Krogon Morthlok. But that shell-pink Telecaster doesn't look quite right now, does it? Thankfully, there was somebody disturbed enough at ESP to design the evil, goat-sacrificing F-50. ESP's LTD series is manufactured in Asia mostly to produce more affordable versions of the company's U.S.-built guitars. However, the series also holds some unique designs of its own—behold the dark power of the F50 Gothic
Carved from light basswood, this creepy double-cutaway design could have been whittled in a psycho's basement with a very large knife, but is actually way too friendly for that. As strange as its gothic convex curves are, the F-50 is a very comfortable and well-balanced guitar with ergonomic recesses for forearm, belly, and upper-fretfinger action.
Even the bolt-on neck has a smooth "all-access" joint to make sure nothing impedes your top-fret throttling pleasure. The Almost Deep Blood Red finish on our review model had a subtle metallic sheen and its glassy polish accentuated the many deep grooves of the body. The neck itself really gives you something to sink your teeth into, being slightly narrower and deeper than the default modern rock profile, and features some well-finished jumbo frets and tidy dart inlays on the rosewood fretboard.
The gothic theme continues to the angular tilt-back headstock, which delivers a near-straight string path to the chunky sealed machineheads.
The twin humbuckers have been summoned from the ESP series, which are a high-output, design with a set of adjustable pole pieces to fine-tune your string-to-string damage potential. A three-way selector switch and a single volume control, because pure evil needs no wussy tone knobs.
Underneath the ghoulish exterior beats the heart of a very solid rock guitar. high-impedance pickups excel at crisp detailed riffs, and the neck unit provides legato lead runs with bite and clarity. and you have metal apocalypse.
The slick neck is definitely one for the speed demons, enhanced by the jumbo frets and flat radius.
It adds up very nicely and is every bit as bloodcurdling as it looks. If you want a no-compromise rock guitar with netherworldly styling, summon the F-50, if you dare.
