Initially viewed as avant-garde in the 1960s, Synthesizers have been perceived with little commercial potential. With a similar look to the keyboard, the synthesizer is an actual instrument but more like a controller. However, a lot of keyboards are made with synthesizers. A synthesizer is a lot more complicated than a keyboard.
How a synthesizer works are more complicated than the usual keyboard. It mimics acoustic sound through its oscillator, which is the sound source that creates electrical signals. These signals move through an amplifier, then speakers. The speakers then turn those signals into vibrations, which turn into sounds. A synthesizer can mimic any instrument with a unique twist to it.
If you’re into synth-pop music, a synthesizer is the best addition to your instruments. You can choose on the different analog (or analogue), sound modules, and working stations.
Analog synth, as its name suggests, uses analog signals and circuits to generate electrical sounds. This means it creates sounds that are not computerised or digitised. It is a free-flowing, continuous signal with infinite resolution. On the other hand, digital synthesizers use this technique to create musical sounds - digital signal processing (DSP). It usually has more polyphony than analogs.
You also have the sound module. It is the “guts” of a synthesizer, an electronic or digital piano. A sound module is an electronic musical instrument without a human-playable interface, such as a piano-style keyboard. You need a plug (externally connected) to a device, usually a Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) controller, and can also be controlled with a sequencer.
If you want to write or compose music, a workstation Music Keyboard is the best tool you can have. If you are musically inclined, you can take the step-by-step process. You can enter the notes stage by stage from notation, or if you are musically proficient, you can play each musical track line by line, track by track, instrument by instrument with up to 16 tracks or musical instruments for a song.
